PowerHouse has developed six months of in-depth curriculum that provides a breadth of knowledge of the most common software development technologies and methods.

Work Experience

After successful completion of our education program, students can graduate and move into six or more months of real world work experience. Creating depth of knowledge in specific technologies as well as technical competency.

Client exposure prepares students for actual work environments and helps get them through the first year of their career.

By providing ongoing proprietary training and coaching specifically developed for leadership in the tech industry, we can teach students the mechanisms to spot, manage, and circumvent the issues that arise on a regular basis and can prohibit career growth.

Carolyn Finch
CEO and Co-Founder

As Co-Founder and CEO of PowerHouse, Carolyn Finch comes with several years of experience running ventures in software education technology and supporting diversity within the tech industry.Finch was the Founder and current Executive Director of Charleston Women in Tech (CWIT). Founded in May 2014, CWIT has grown to over 1200 members and focuses on supporting, connecting, and developing women of all ages for careers in tech.

Finch comes to PowerHouse with over two years experience as the Business Development Manager in the City of Charleston’s Business Development Office, working in conjunction with the Charleston Digital Corridor. In this capacity, Finch expanded the CODEcamp software education program increased annual attendance by 300% and authored successful grant applications; including the Office of Innovation Challenge Grant which awarded $247,000 for CODEcamp through the South Carolina Dept. of Commerce.

Carolyn holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire School of Law and is a double major (Communications Studies and History) from the University of California, Los Angeles as well as a Division I Cross Country and Track and Field athlete specializing in the 3000m steeple chase. In 2015, Finch was named as one of Charleston based magazine “Charlie Mag’s Most Progressive”.

Amy Piazza
CTO and Co-Founder

Amy Piazza joins PowerHouse as a leader of technology organizations, technologist, and experienced product owner.

Locally, Amy served as the Director of Web Development at Blue Acorn where she strategically scaled the development department, increased technical acumen, and matured the organization to support the aggressively growing needs of the e-commerce focused professional services business.

At eBay Inc., Amy joined PayPal and worked to overhaul the PayPal Developer Network and to increase engagement of the developer community. At Magento, Amy managed the corporate web presence of the brand by maintaining and enhancing a large online eco-system. Prior to eBay, Amy worked for AOL, Inc. developing and maintaining the AOL Developer Network web site and community.

Amy has a B.A. Degree in Biology from the College of Charleston and is also a lifetime Girl Scout who has earned the Gold Award.

Suzette Bussey

As an entrepreneur and businesswoman, Suzette Bussey has owned, operated and successfully sold several diverse businesses, including a wedding magazine and tradeshow, a Charleston event venue, and an import/export company. As the founder of the import/export company, she represented the company as it was selected for the National Export Initiative by the Brookings Institute. She also represented South Carolina commerce at the TradeWinds Conference in South Africa, Namibia, Ghana, Togo and Nigeria.

Suzette is always focused on business development, marketing and business processes. She is a published author and founder of Norton & Hodges which creates handbags, jewelry and accessories that celebrate conservation, sustainability and women artisans.

An Academic All-American collegiate athlete, Suzette attended both Charleston Southern University and College of Charleston. Suzette has a BA in Business Management. Suzette resides in downtown Charleston.
